Moving Firewood?

You could be transporting quarantine pests.

If you move firewood, possibly when camping, relocating or managing a wood lot, you could be transporting the Emerald Ash Borer or other quarantined insects and plant diseases that could spread to other uninfested areas of Canada.

The County of Essex is now regulated by the Government of Canada under the Emerald Ash Borer Infested Places Order, 2003.

Under this Ministerial Order, the removal of firewood of all species and ash tree material (nursery stock, trees, logs, lumber and wood with bark attached, wood chips or bark chips from trees in the genus Fraxinus) from this quarantine area is prohibited by law without the written approval of the canadsian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
